Olaplex Treatment

Bond repair for bleached and broken hair

Olaplex works on the level below conditioning. It rebuilds the disulphide bonds that bleach, heat and chemical services break. Add it to any Day service at our Uluwatu or Ubud salons.

Repair, not coating

Masks and conditioners coat the outside of the hair and rinse away. Olaplex reaches inside and relinks bonds that have actually been broken. That is why hair feels structurally stronger afterwards rather than just softer, and why the effect does not wash straight back out.

Which numbers we use, and when

We work with Olaplex No 1 and No 2 in the salon, and No 6 and No 7 for home. No 1 goes into the lightener or color so bonds are protected while the service is happening. No 2 goes on afterwards to carry on rebuilding once the color is off. If you are lightening, that pairing is the whole point, and it is why we ask you to tell us at booking rather than at the basin.

Best paired with something else

Olaplex is an add-on, and it works hardest alongside another service. Paired with a cut it stops the ends fraying again; paired with keratin it strengthens the fibre before we smooth it; paired with bleach it protects while we lift. Tell us what you are already booking and we will advise whether it is worth adding.

If your hair is breaking

Short, snapped pieces around the crown, ends that split faster than you can cut them, hair that stretches and does not spring back when wet: that is your hair breaking, not just dry. Olaplex is the direct answer to it.

FAQs: Olaplex Treatment: the honest answers

Can I book Olaplex on its own?

It's designed as an add-on to another service, and that's how we get the best out of it. Message us and we'll suggest the right pairing for your hair.

What's the difference between Olaplex and a repair treatment?

Olaplex rebuilds broken chemical bonds. The Day Hair Repair Treatment restores moisture and condition through the hair shaft. Bleached and snapping means Olaplex; dry, rough and tired means repair. Often both.

Should I add it to my bleach or color?

If we're lightening, yes, and tell us at booking. No 1 goes into the lightener to protect bonds while we work, No 2 goes on afterwards. That's a different thing from having a treatment later in the week.

How often should I have it?

For actively damaged hair, alongside every salon visit. Once your hair has recovered, every second or third visit is usually enough.

Does it work on virgin hair?

There's less to repair, so the difference is smaller. If you've never colored or heat-styled, a hair repair or scalp treatment will do more for you.

What is a bond builder actually doing to my hair?

It works on the links inside the strand rather than on the surface. Bleach, color and heat break those links, which is what leaves hair stretchy when wet and rough when dry. Olaplex Treatment relinks them, so it repairs the thing that was damaged rather than coating over the result. That is also why it does more added into a bleach or color than it does on its own.
