No heat at all, and a treatment that actually gets in
Infrared is an add-on to the Day Hair Repair Treatment, and to nothing else. The iron is cold: it gives off a red light rather than heat, and it breaks the particles in the hair mask small enough to get inside the hair instead of sitting on it. Available at all three salons, and only if you ask for it.
It is a cold iron, not a hot one
This is the part people get wrong, so we will be plain about it. The infrared iron gives off a red light and no heat. Nothing about it warms the hair, nothing about it cooks the fibre, and it is not a straightening tool. If you have been looking for a salon with infrared hair tools because your own hair does not take heat well, this is the honest version of what we are using.
What the red light actually does
It breaks the particles in the hair mask down small enough to get inside the hair. A mask sitting on the surface rinses away and the softness lasts two days. The same mask, with the particles broken small, goes into the fibre and does the nourishing where it counts. That is the whole claim. It gives you the maximum result from the treatment. It does not make the treatment last longer, and we will not tell you it does.
Only with the Day Hair Repair Treatment
It goes with the Day Hair Repair Treatment and with nothing else on the menu. There is no mask to carry into the hair on a colour, a keratin or a cut, so there is nothing for the light to do. It is also never added automatically. Ask for it when you book, or in the chair once the stylist has seen your hair, and we will tell you honestly whether your hair will notice.

FAQs: Infrared: the honest answers
Is infrared a treatment on its own?
No, and we won't sell it as one. It's an add-on to the Day Hair Repair Treatment: it breaks the mask particles small enough to get inside the hair. On its own there is nothing for it to carry in, so there is nothing worth booking.
What should I add it to?
The Day Hair Repair Treatment, and only that. There is no mask to carry into the hair on a colour, a keratin or a cut, so it has nothing to do on any of them. Ask your stylist whether your own hair will notice the difference, because on plenty of hair it will not and we would rather say so.
How much longer does it take?
Ask when you book. It is a short addition rather than a service of its own, and your stylist will tell you what it adds to your appointment before you commit to it.
Do I have to add it?
No. It is never added automatically, and we will tell you when your hair will not notice the difference rather than put it on every appointment.
Is the iron hot? Will it damage my hair?
It is not hot. The infrared iron gives off a red light and registers no heat at all, which is why it suits hair that reacts badly to conventional heat. It is also why it cannot straighten anything: there is no heat in it to set a shape with.
Will it make my treatment last longer?
No, and anyone telling you otherwise is overselling it. It gets you the maximum result out of the treatment on the day by carrying the mask into the fibre. How long that result holds is down to your aftercare, not to the light.
